Hunter is 18 years old and originally from Seymour, Indiana but has spent most of her life in Bradenton. When she’s not at Dream Oaks Camp, she spends her time babysitting, at the beach, and making sure all of her academic work is completed. She is currently working towards her A.A from State College of Florida and then plans to transfer to USF Tampa in order to pursue a nursing degree. Hunter has been a Counselor at Camp Dream Oaks for about 8 months but says the relationships and friendships she’s built make it feel like a lifetime.
Why did you choose to work at Dream Oaks Camp?
I chose to work at Dream Oaks Camp because working with kids with special needs is something that I plan on pursuing in the future.
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
My favorite aspect of my job is interacting with the kids and spending all week with them and getting to know them personally and creating a special bond with each child.
Describe yourself using only film titles.
Clueless, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Legally Blonde.
What is your signature comfort food?
My signature comfort food is definitely Macaroni and Cheese.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“You only live one life, so live it like there is no tomorrow.”.
If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?
Probably turquoise, because it represents cleanliness and I think of myself to be pretty well-organized. I also think of turquoise as a color that you can add as an accent color and it will just brighten up a room, and I feel like I can do the same with my corny jokes.
“Hunter’s infectious spirit and smile brings joy to everyone she is around at Dream Oaks Camp.” – AnnaMaria Carleton (Program Director)
